About the method

Based on GB/T 39116 and GB/T 39117, this method supports staged smart-factory development. Self-assessment and professional evaluation identify capability gaps and inform factory diagnosis and upgrades across China.

A 2024 Jiangsu provincial report recorded 45,000 enterprises undertaking online smart manufacturing maturity self-assessment.

Jiangsu combines online self-assessment with industrial upgrading. Beijing’s diagnostic rules reference both standards, and Guangdong’s 2025 smart-factory arrangements provide self-assessment access. The 45,000 figure is Jiangsu’s cumulative self-assessment count, not a national total or certification count.

Define the enterprise or plant boundary and relevant manufacturing activities before self-diagnosis.

Use interviews, observations, records and system demonstrations to substantiate capabilities.

Translate findings into realistic capability targets; follow programme-specific rules where recognition or acceptance is involved.

Can support comparisons across domestic and overseas plants and sequencing of integration, training and operational improvements.
