ANTARA reported on 12 September that Bank Indonesia had called for broader local-currency transactions and cross-border payment connections at the second BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Mumbai on 9–10 September, supporting financial cooperation and resilience.

Indonesian and Indian central banks discussed expanding their local-currency transaction framework, bilateral currency swap arrangements and connections between cross-border QR payment systems. The talks aimed to translate BRICS priorities into practical bilateral links.

According to the report, delegates adopted a joint statement covering digital transformation, AI, cyber resilience and sustainable finance. Indonesia said it would continue practical financial connectivity cooperation in line with countries' development stages and policy priorities.
