On 8 June, the Network Innovation and Development Alliance announced that the 2026 BRICS Future Networks Innovation Forum was scheduled for 16–17 June in Shenzhen. The organizers included the municipal industry and information technology bureau, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and the BRICS Institute of Future Networks.

The alliance's next-generation intelligent networks subforum would cover network evolution and applications, including resilient networks, space communications, autonomous networks and wireless LAN innovation. Technical white papers and standards outputs were also planned.

The announcement emphasized exchanges among governments, research institutions and enterprises to deepen ICT and AI cooperation. BRICS and other emerging-market representatives would discuss application needs and network technology pathways.
